Experience the Berber lifestyle on a 2-day desert safari to Zagora from Marrakech. Sleep in a typical desert camp of the Sahara, see the sunrise and sunset from the back of a camel, and enjoy spectacular views of the legendary Kasbahs and oases.

What you’re going to do

Day 1: Marrakech - Zagora (7 hours drive)

Following an early morning pick-up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech, drive across the High Atlas Mountains en route to Ouarzazate, where you will stop for a lunch. Continue to the oasis of Agdez, before driving through the date and palm trees of the Draa Valley. Marvel at the fortified Kasbahs along the way. Upon arrival at Zagora, meet your camel caravan for a 1-hour camel ride over the sand dunes. Watch the sunset painting the desert sands as it sinks below the horizon. Then, transfer to your Sahara Desert camp just before dark. Settle into your private tent, and enjoy some time to explore the surrounding desert scenery. Dinner will be served under the stars, while your nomad hosts will provide the entertainment around a camp fire with the beat of their tam tam drums.

Day 2: Zagora - Marrakech (7 hours drive)

Wake early to experience the magic of a desert sunrise (optional). Then, enjoy breakfast before climbing back into the saddle of your camel for the ride back to the main road. Here, your minibus will be waiting to take you on a scenic drive to the world heritage village of Ait Ben Haddou. Instantly recognizable as the setting of various Hollywood epics, it’s also a popular backdrop for photo shoots with international fashion magazines and agencies. Explore the Kasbah with some free time for lunch, before the picturesque drive back to Marrakech for an estimated drop off at 18:00.

Rachid

My name is Rachid berber man was born and grew up in Imlil valley at the high Atlas mountains of Morocco , I work year-round here in Imlil valley as a mountain guide In winter I take Travelers backcountry skiing and ice climbing and teaching the skills associated with these activities while in the summer time my work is an even mix of rock climbing, mountain biking, mountaineering, hiking backpacking... I think I always knew I wanted to be a guide, but didn’t know it was an option until my early 17 years I managed to speak 2 languages fluently: English, and French, in addition to Berber and Arabic, As long as I can remember, I felt strongly that I wanted to work in an environment that was both physically and intellectually stimulating. It’s a combination of perks and challenges that I can’t imagine encountering in any other job. I have been guide for the last 8years I had a big experience with a lot of people from different countries in the world. I love my clients, love the endeavors they take me on (seriously ... I'm on their trip, regardless of who's in the lead - that's an important part of the paradigm)
