Ancient kasbahs and the valley of flowers are beautiful to see in the spring. Travel over the High Atlas Mountains, passing through valleys and over the summits. Camel trekking, sandboarding on Merzouga's sand dunes, and sleeping under the stars in a nomad tented camp are all included in this itinerary. This is a fantastic desert tour that will take you from Marrakech to Merzouga in the Sahara Desert over the course of five days.
This 5 day/4 night trip through Morocco begins in Marrakech and includes visits to the Ait Ben Haddou kasbah, the Atlas highlands, Ouarzazate, Todra & Dades gorges, a Merzouga desert excursion to discover the Erg Chebbi dunes, and Berber settlements. The trip concludes with a visit to the city of Ouarzazate.
ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrive to Marrakech Airport and transfer to your riad/hotel
A member of our staff will meet you at the airport and drive you to the Riad/Hotel. After sleeping at your accommodation, you may begin your first visit to the Jamaa el Fna plaza, which is only a few minutes (4 minutes) walking distance from your hotel and has become one of Marrakesh's landmarks since its creation in the eleventh century. It is a one-of-a-kind compilation of popular Moroccan cultural traditions presented via musical, religious, and artistic expressions.
Day 2: Marrakech – Tizi-N-Tichka – Ait Ben Haddou – Dades Valley
After breakfast, we will meet you at your hotel and depart for the Dades Gorges. We will journey into the high Atlas Mountains through Tizi-n-Tishka before arriving at Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that has also served as the setting for various films like Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, and Alexander. After lunch, we'll go to Ouarzazate to see the stunning natural landscapes and ancient sites of Taourirt Kasbah, Skoura, and the Valley of the Roses, which is famous for its annual Rose Festival. We'll also spend the night in the Berber villages of El Kelaa des M'Gouna and Boumalene du Dades.
Day 3: Dades Gorges – Todra Gorges – Tinjdad – Merzouga (Camel Ride & Night in Desert)
After breakfast, we'll travel from the Dades gorges to the Sahara desert. Berber villages are scattered along the way, and we'll pass through Todra Gorges, Tenhir, Tinjdad, Jorf, and Erfoud, where we'll feel the beginning of the Saharan oasis of Tafilalet, and then we'll continue to a Hotel in Merzouga, where after relaxing for a few minutes, you'll take some of your luggage in a small bag (just what you need for the night in the desert) and leave the other luggage in the When we arrive at the camp, we will dismount the camels and walk to the highest sand dunes for sandboarding and sunset viewing before spending the night in a camp (Berber nomad tents) with drumming music in the middle of the Sahara.
Day 4: Merzouga – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
Your camel guide will wake you up to experience the sunrise when the colors of the dunes combine with the movement of shadows to create a breathtaking spectacle. We'll ride the camels back to the hotel after breakfast before embarking for Marrakech. We'll be traveling 560 kilometers back to Marrakech today, so it'll be a long day.
Day 5: Marrakech Sightseeing – Transfer to Marrakech Airport
Today is an optional Guided Tour of the Medina of Marrakech with a Marrakech guide. You'll see the famous Koutoubia Mosque, the Medina and its souks, and learn more about Marrakech's mysteries, such as the Saadian tombs, the Bahia Palace, and the Badi Palace... Take a walk around the famous Jemaa el-Fna Square, which is surrounded by restaurants, shops, and public buildings and provides daily commercial activity as well as various forms of entertainment.
