Trip To Abu Simbel, Edfu, Kom Ombo And Aswan From Luxor

ITINERARY

Day 1: Luxor to Aswan Sightseeing Tours
6:00 AM: You will be picked up at your hotel in Luxor and transferred to Edfu, about an hour's drive south. Upon arrival in Edfu, you will visit the Temple of Edfu, dedicated to Horus, considered the best-preserved cult temple in Egypt. The temple was believed to be the place where Horus avenged the murder of his father, Osiris, by killing Seth.

Next, you will continue to Kom Ombo, a 45-minute drive from Edfu. Upon arrival, you will visit the Temple of Kom Ombo, standing on high ground overlooking the Nile. This temple is unique for its double entrance, each dedicated to a deity: Haroeris with a falcon head and Sobek with a crocodile head. The temple was built in honor of the two gods, Sobek, the god of fertility and creator of the world, and Haroeris, the ancient falcon-headed Horus.

You will then continue to Aswan to enjoy a day tour. You will visit the High Dam, a marvel of engineering built in 1960 to protect Egypt from annual floods from the Nile. You will also visit the Unfinished Obelisk, showcasing the techniques used by the ancient Egyptians to cut obelisks. It is believed to have belonged to Queen Hatshepsut or Queen Nefertiti, rulers of the 18th Dynasty. You will also visit the majestic Philae Temple, built in honor of the goddess Isis.

Finally, you will be transferred to your hotel in Aswan for check-in, with free time at leisure, and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Abu Simbel Trip from Aswan
3:30 AM: A box-breakfast will be provided by the hotel in Aswan. You will then be accompanied by your guide and driver to visit the two Temples of Abu Simbel, considered masterpieces of ancient Egypt. The temples reflect the glory and grandeur of the New Kingdom. The Egyptian government and UNESCO co-operated to save the temples from the flood. The Temple of Ramesses II was dedicated to four universal gods and to Ramesses II himself. The great Abu Simbel temple is also known as the Sun Temple of Ramesses II. The Temple of Queen Nefertari, also called the Temple of Hathor, was dedicated to the wife of the Sun God, bringing Ramesses II, Nefertari, Hathor, and the Sun God together as one. You will have lunch at a local restaurant in Aswan, with free time at leisure, before returning to your hotel in Luxor.
