Drive to the birthplace of Christian monasticism, Wadi El-Natrun, in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle. Although there were once 50 monasteries in the area, only 4 have survived to the present day. Start your tour with Deir al-Baramus, the oldest and most remote of the surviving monasteries, then visit Deir Anba Bishoi, where the body of the saint is still kept. Conclude your trip by exploring Deir El-Suryani, the smallest and most compact of the four monasteries.
