Visit a sacred temple in the rainforest, walk among the terraced rice paddies and enjoy a picnic lunch with unforgettable views.
What you’re going to do
In the morning, the driver and tour guide will collect you from your hotel for the journey to Batukaru Temple. Located on the misty southern slopes of Mount Batukaru, Bali’s second highest volcano, the peaceful temple is surrounded by lush rainforest. Due to its remote location it is rarely visited by tourists, yet is an architectural beauty featuring a multitude of shrines with tiered roofs. It is meant to protect Bali from evil spirits and is an extremely sacred site for the island’s Hindu population.
From here drive to the UNESCO listed rice terraces of Jatiluwih where stunning emerald-green rice fields cover the sides of the hills. Take a short trek of about 30 – 45 minutes through the rice terraces to your special picnic spot. While you walk your guide will tell you about the Subak irrigation system that has been preserved by the Balinese farmers for centuries.
Sit down and enjoy a delicious picnic lunch while taking in the undisturbed views over the stunning landscape.
