Jebel Shams is the highest mountain in Oman and has an altitude of 3009m. In the winter, temperatures can fall below 0 degrees. In the summer, temperatures range between 14 to 24 degrees. Sab Bani Khamis is an abandoned village located on the rocky ledge of the mountain. A Via Ferrata – or ‘steel path’ in Italian – is a steel cable route fixed to a rock.

What you’re going to do

Starting morning, we follow the Balcony Walk which overlooks the incredible Grand
Canyon of Jebel Shams and leads to the abandoned village of Sab Bani Khamis. We climb
to the hidden pool and abseil 20m before continuing the adventure to the start point of
the Via Ferrata. Here, the climb begins with an 80m vertical ascent followed by a traverse
and finally a less challenging ascent. We reach the end point of the adventure after a short
hike out of the canyon.
