The perfect express Toubkal Ascent Trek and Erg Chebbi desert tour begins with a pick-up from Marrakech and a drive to Imlil, where the staff will welcome you. After two nights in the highlands, you will begin on an accelerated desert adventure through some of Morocco's most picturesque and magnificent sections of the south. Before returning to Marrakech, take a camel ride and spend the night amid the sand dunes.
This is a quiet express tour with long distances to drive each day, but it is doable. Those with extra time can climb Toubkal in three days, followed by a four-day desert excursion.
ITINERARY
Day 1: Marrakech - Imlil - Sidi Chamharouch - Toubkal Refuge
You will be picked up from your Marrakech hotel at 8 a.m. Our driver will take you to Imlil (1740m), a Berber village 65 kilometers south of Marrakech, where our hike will begin. Here we'll meet the Berber muleteer crew. A skilled mountain guide will accompany you through Berber towns and through the shrine Sidi Chamharouch to the mountain cabin (2500m). We're going to enjoy a picnic lunch here.
After we eat our meal and take a little rest, we will head to the sanctuary (3200m). A hot shower will be supplied to cleanse the dust off your body and prepare you for the next day. Dinner will be traditional Moroccan cuisine prepared in the evening. During the summer, there is the option of sleeping in a tent.
Day 2: Toubkal Refuge (3207m) - Toubkal Peak (4167m) - Imlil
The following day starts with an early wake-up call to avoid the full power of the sun. Breakfast is served between the hours of 5:00 and 6:00 a.m. We'll start the uphill trek at 5:30 a.m. We'll take a brief break in the middle of our ascent to replenish our supplies of water, oranges, and almonds. After hiking for 3-4 hours, we will be rewarded with a breathtaking panorama of the High Atlas Mountains, valleys, and Berber towns.
When we reach the summit, we will have a 45-minute break to take photos and enjoy the spectacular views. After that, we'll head back to the hut, where lunch will be waiting for us. We'll return to Imlil by taking the same way down the hill.
Day 3: Imlil - Tichka pass (2260m) - Ait Ben Hadou - Kasbah - Dades Gorges
You will continue your journey to the Sahara after breakfast. You will first cross the Tizi n'Tichka Pass in the High Atlas Mountains. You will witness riverbank oases and barren hillsides thickly filled with Kasbahs as you go through various Berber communities. Following lunch, you will go to the Valley of Roses, which provides breathtaking views of the Dades Valley and the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs. You'll be spending the night at Dades.
Day 4: Dades Gorge - Todra Gorge - Merzouga Sand Dunes
We'll start our journey to the Merzouga Sahara Desert after breakfast and a shower. Before we leave, we will stop in Dades Gorges, where we will have the opportunity to take great shots and enjoy the landscape...
We will continue driving toward Tinghir » Todra Gorges » where you will have free time to walk around and then we will go to Tinjdad town for lunch, after lunch we will go to Merzouga Desert where the camel trekking tours begin, we will pass through Erfoud the capital Moroccan city of fossil's, we will arrive in Merzouga in the afternoon around 16:00 to be ready for the camel ride into the Erg Chebbi dunes,
When you return to the camp after viewing the sunset, you will be treated to a cup of tea known as (Moroccan Berber Whisky)! Then you'll have lunch at the camp, which will be a delicious Moroccan Berber tagine. After supper, the celebrations will begin. Following the celebration, listen to local Berber nomad musicians perform traditional music with drums and dance around the campfire for a fantastic opportunity to admire the stunning sky full of stars and get beautiful images. Dinner and an overnight stay in a nomad camp are included.
Day5: Merzouga Erg Chebbi - Marrakech
To observe the dawn in Chebbi Dunes, get up early in the morning. After breakfast, we'll continue to Marrakech via Ouarzazate, arriving about 8 p.m. to conclude our Atlas and Sahara desert holiday.
