We will learn about daily life in east Amman from its residents, including the local art of pigeon breeding and training.

What you’re going to do

On this tour, I will guide you through an in-depth journey through modern Amman focusing on its history. We will highlight the most important historical events of modern day Jordan by visiting places and people that bring these events to life.

I have a passion for storytelling and connecting guests with locals to learn about what life is like in Amman set against the last 150 years of its history. As many of the reviews have noted, guests find this connection to be special and unique, and something that most touristic experiences do not offer.

I would love to host you on this tour to meet the beautiful people and learn about the rich history of this city.

Sharing a traditional dinner (Iftar during Ramadan) and conversation with a family host can be arranged for a modest additional cost, if desired. Please send a direct message if you're interested.

Other things to note:
A more suitable time for the guests and the tour guide can be arranged after booking.

The only way to experience Amman is with Anas!

I feel so lucky to have been told by a friend to do this tour with Anas! This tour is how I wish every tour I went on was structured, Anas provides context about the city that would be impossible to try to find elsewhere. He shares the history of the city to better understand how it is in the present day and deciphers through the streets how the culture of the city is communicating and feeling. Anas is not only an incredible tour guide, but his positive energy is infectious. He is a kind and incredible human who is making great strides for the community in Amman!

    Wow!!

I can’t explain how useful and fun this was! Me and my friend really enjoyed spending time with Anas himself. He was such good company, friendly and welcoming which made the tour 1000x better! We saw some really beautiful places and just generally saw Amman in a completely different way despite having stayed here for 4 weeks already. Thank you Anas, you’re amazing!

I am the founder of Through Local Eyes, a start-up aiming to promote non-touristic destinations with unique stories to help local communities benefit from tourism in Jordan, and have their voices heard, while connecting touristic landmarks. I am a Tourism Management university student. I have lived and worked in various rural areas in Jordan, where I contributed in developing alternative programs and activities. My goal is to develop a new alternative Jordanian tourism map, which aims to be fair, sustainable and inclusive. I have great interest in politics, heritage, and identity, and have strong faith in the significance of cultural exchange. The programs I offer focus on fair, ethical, and sustainable experiences.
